On-air in Nashville, Atlanta, Cincinnati, South Florida, and (mostly) Denver, a 33-year career in radio served me well. I wrote Good to Go - A Guide to Preparing for the End of Life (Sterling Publishing, 2010). Then, a breast cancer diagnosis and ensuing chemo, bilateral mastectomy, radiation, target therapy turned me into a "new woman" with some new parts and a whole 'nother outlook. I give talks on how to (and how not to) plan for death when not in crisis and speak about having had cancer and dabble in music and art.

Radio and Voiceover

I began my on-air career in the late 70s as a college intern at WGNS in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. From there, I was a broadcast personality for 92Q and Magic 13 in Nashville. Next stop: Atlanta for a gig at Z-93. I put in a few years at Yes 95 and W-Lite in Cincinnati before landing in Denver and hosted morning shows at KBPI, KAZY (as "Jomama"), and KIMN. Then, there was that year in South Florida . . . Afterward, I returned to Denver for several years on the morning show at KOSI. For a demo of my voiceover work, please email me: jo@jomyers.com.

Literary

With my self-published version of  Good to Go , I attracted the attention of my dear agent, Patricia Moosbrugger, who secured a deal for me with Sterling Publishing for Good to Go - A Guide to Preparing for the End of Life.

Music/Art

For 20 years, I've performed standards from the 30s , 40s, and 50s with drummer Dave Fox and keyboard player Andy Sziklas as "Jo Myers and the Mama's Boys." We're campy, vampy, and don't take it seriously. How can we now when I can't remember the lyrics? (Thanks, chemo.)

A passion for decoupage morphed into art therapy during cancer treatment. It's not a lucrative hobby, but some pieces have sold at artisan shops in the Denver area. My sympathy cards--from photos I've taken  of cemetery statuary--have also been popular in local stores.
